Time Out Work in Progress 2

I've started painting on Time Out. This time I am working each part of the painting separately, I pre-wet the object and then paint a wash of the lighter color and while it is still wet I blend in the shadow color. I don't know if it will be the best way but it is a lot of fun.

Here is the painting as it sits on my easel now.

I just finished painting a wash on the background wet in wet and that is

Time Out Work in Progress 1

I decided I didn't like the cat after some input from my wife. I changed her so she would be looking at the wall like everyone else. I did a quick mock up in Photoshop and decided I was going with it.

Now that I have my composition I drew it onto a half sheet of smooth 140# watercolor paper.

I did some value studies in Photoshop over the sketch and am still thinking about the colors I will be using. I like the red stripes on the shirt, so I'll stick with that. 

The paper has been wet down and taped to my board and I have a first wash on the foreground blanket. I'm going to work a little different on this one and paint in each area separately.

New Painting WIP "Time Out"

My daughter took this photo of my grandson and it is 

one of my all time favorites. (There are a bunch though) 

I relate to this picture because it reminds me of the times I had to spend in "Time Out" when I was a child. we used to have to sit in a corner until we had served our "time out" and then we could go back and play again. I love that his bears are also facing the walls. When he visited he just loved our new kitten and I thought there should be a kitten as well. So I added our new kitten to the photo.

This will be the basic composition for my new painting which I am thinking will be a watercolor at this time but could change to acrylic. I am torn as to whether there should be a picture on the wall or something else added to the painting. What do you guys think?
