Red Tailed Hawk Portrait Work in Progress 2

I made some more progress this morning on my Hawk painting.
Here is the painting as it sits on my easel this morning.

To see the step by step photos of the painting process read on after the break.

First thing this morning I started brushing in the feathers on his head.

Continuing with more feather detail under the beak.

Finishing up the first pass of detail on the feathers on the head.

Here I'm roughing in the darker feathers on the body.

Refining my proportions around the eye and beak and beginning to add some darker shadows.
I also started a highlight in the background behind the beak to draw more attention there.

Added more dark shadows around the eye and beak and then added some shadow on the body to help bring out the shapes on the white feathers of the body.
