Continuing work on the grisaille in oil paint today. When I am happy with all the details and the tonal range I will let it dry a few days and begin the color glazes. One nice thing about photographing my progress is that I will be able to do a high resolution image of the final grisaille before I apply glazes.
Here it is this evening.
To see the steps to get here from yesterday, read on after the break.
I roughed in his jacket first thing this morning.
Then I did some work on his head and the background behind the head.
I finished up the background and then started on the table.
More detail work on the head and eye.
I started refining the shape of the Illuminati medallion in the background.
Nitpicked on the thumb a little and the negative space around the head.
I need to refine the people in the bowl and add more detail to the medallion and then it should be about ready to dry for the color stages.
